This week, Microsoft released Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Office 2008 for Mac, designed to add stability, security, and performance enhancements to the suite of office applications. The update features suite-wide fixes, as well as improvements to the individual applications that make up Office.
Microsoft says the service pack will improve performance when you type text into a text box, shape, or chart element. A more-intelligent Remove Office tool will no longer search for copies of Office in a Time Machine backup, while another fix provides for proper layer positioning with inserted PSD files.

Apple has released Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 1 which adds Java SE 6 version 1.6.0_05 to your Mac.
This release does not change the default version of Java. This update is only for Mac OS X Leopard v10.5.2 and later, and should not be installed on earlier versions of OS X.
This release is also only for 64-bit Intel-based Macs only and cannot run on PowerPC-based or 32-bit Intel-based Macs.
Apple has released a graphics software update for iMac computers equipped with ATI’s Radeon HD 2600 Pro or Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics card installed, running Mac OS X v10.5.2 or later. The update can be downloaded from Apple’s Web site.
According to Apple, this graphics firmware update version 1.01, will update the graphics card firmware on these systems that will improve system stability. Once it’s done, the Mac’s Boot ROM or SMC version information (as listed in System Profiler) will read 113-B2250L-259.
